Our Reading Competition aimed at cultivating lifetime readers. Students took this challenge and spent the time between November and April reading myriads of stories, which were surefire to improve their language and add to their knowledge.
The winning classes got to have breakfast with their teacher, and the students who read the most number of books in the winning class received a certificate and a storybook as a reward.
BBS students participated in the annual AUB Science, Math & Technology Fair 2019 by demonstrating 6 projects. Our students spent 2 whole days at AUB. Saturday, April 5th was the judging day, where judges visited them and listened to their ideas and inventions. And on Sunday, April 6th the results were announced and BBS as usual hit first & third places.

انطلاقًا من هذا الشّعار أجرت دائرة اللغة العربيّة في المدرسة المعمدانيّة الإنجيليّة في الخامس عشر من شهر نيسان 2019 مسابقتها السنويّة في الإملاء. اشترك في هذه المسابقة الفائزون الأوائل في الاختبارات التّمهيديّة التي انجزت في الصفوف من الرابع إلى العاشر. وقد اعتمدنا فيها إمتاع المشاركين بنصوص قصصيّة مشوّقة ومرحة، وابتعدنا عن التعقيدات اللغويّة والعبارات التي لا يحتاجها الطّالب في الكتابة الإنشائيّة. بعد إعلان النتائج النّهائيّة حصل الفائزون على جوائز قيّمة تلبّي رغباتهم الثّقافيّة والفنيّة والعلميّة.
The visit to Chocostory was a story of a different taste. Learners were introduced to the history of chocolate, starting from the tree of cocoa till the process that the seeds undertake to become chocolate. Finally, our learners had the chance to indulge themselves with chocolate! They made their own shapes and never stopped tasting that delicious chocolate.
It was a pleasure to welcome 5 international IB-workshop leaders at Beirut Baptist School for the workshop Making the PYP happen: Implementing agency to train our educators and staff. PD sessions are important and ongoing at BBS and IB PYP to develop and extend the skills and knowledge of our educators.
Health week was very special at BBS.
It gave K3 and Grade 1 learners the opportunity to learn about the nurse’s role and practice some of it. They also received a Health Card with their height, weight, heart rate and blood pressure.

Grade 2 and 3 learners celebrated Health week by learning about healthy food and the Respiratory system; grade 3 learners even made their own lung model!
Our Thinking Hats Are On! Once again students in Cycle I got crazy and creative with their hat designs, choosing the word that represents them best.
The secondary learners in collaboration with the Biology Department celebrated World Health Day.
Projects were presented in secondary classes one week earlier discussing all health issues. Grade 10 learners brought fresh salads including tabbouleh and fattoush.
As for Grade 11 learners, they brought raw nuts, raisins, dates and fresh juices. As for Grade 12 learners, they brought delicious traditional breakfast meals: Foul and Hommos
They danced the traditional Lebanese Dabkeh and had a greatly enjoyable recess.
K3 learners had a spectacular day on “Story Character’s Day”. They shared their stories and told their friends about their favorite characters. Some learners made up their own stories. They drew the characters and presented their stories in an amazing way. Others brought objects and talked about them. A prince charming brought a princess’s shoe and acted out the Cinderella story. Another child brought pottery and taught his friends how to make porridge. They were so creative!
Some learners came dressed up as princes and princesses; while others wore superhero costumes. They just looked marvelous!
