Grade 5 – Making Tessellations on GeoGebra

During the 3rd central Idea, “How we express ourselves”, grade 5 learners created Tessellations on GeoGebra during their ICT sessions. This helped them to reinforce their visualization skills. Moreover, they modeled real world problems and made connections between the real world and mathematics. Finally, they were able to foster an appreciation for the “Art of Mathematics”.

K1 – Pajama Day

Mommies and Daddies,

On our Pajamas Day, we did some stretching exercises in the P.E. room. Then, we watched a movie while eating some yummy homemade popcorn and some salty sticks. Ms. Luna read us a story as we snuggled with our favorite stuffed animals and pillows. Our classes were filled with toys, tents, and cushions here and there. We talked about our pajamas and shared our favorite stories with our peers. What a lovely day it was!

K3 Multi-Cultural Day

K3 Multi-Cultural Day

We designed our passports and traveled to four countries in one day. We tried to eat Chinese rice with chopsticks, wore Lebanese folklore costumes and danced the Dabke, spoke French as if we were in Paris, and made Hawaiian flower necklaces. Those are some of the wonderful experiences we had on Multicultural Day.

K1 – Riding a Tricycle

قامت صفوف الرّوضة الأولى بسباقٍ للدّرّاجات، وذلك للتّعرّف على القدرات الشّخصيّة لكلّ متعلّم منهم.

K1 learners showed how well they can ride the tricycles. They peddled as fast as they can to reach the finish line.

Grade 4 – Math is Fun

It was a real fun to see learners happy, motivated, and truly involved using smarties, M&Ms, and marshmallows to divide whole numbers that do not divide evenly. In each section of grade 4, the learners worked in groups of 4, with each dividing different amounts of smarties among themselves. The results were interesting.

– Some ended up having a remainder greater than the divisor; consequently, they figured out that there are more smarties than can be shared equally.

– Some had more smarties in groups than others; as a result, they understood that division is about sharing items equally and it’s fine if some are left over, the left over is the remainder itself.

Finally, it’s a real privilege to see learners truly involved and excited to study math and having fun learning new concepts.

Grade 12 – Visit to the Chronic Center

Grade 12 took a trip to the Chronic Care Center in Hazmieh, where they visited the genetic lab and learned more about gel electrophoresis and DNA analysis. They listened to lectures about Thalassemia and Type 1 Diabetes, which are two prevailing diseases in Lebanon and are also covered in their curriculum. They also passed by the blood bank to learn more about the process of handling, preserving and testing blood samples before blood transfusions are given to patients.
